Craps - Learning the Basics

When you visit a casino, you will notice a crowd of people screaming with delight. This is where you will find the game of craps being played. You might be daunted at first with the energy coming off from any craps table, but the trick is to learn the basics first before playing. Craps is easy enough to understand and once you get the hang of it you will be surprised on how fun the game actually is. For those who are interested in playing craps, it is highly recommended that you learn all about the game including how it is played, the rules of the game, as well as its betting system. Once you have done so, you will have a far easier time when you start playing craps.

Understanding Craps
A game of craps is played on a table which is purpose-built and two dice are used. The dice used in the game follows strict rules when it is made to avoid any cheating. Every eight hours the dice is replaced with new ones. A rule is implemented with the way a player throws the dice in a craps game.  If you will be the one to throw the dice, you can only use one hand. The dice should reach the far wall when thrown. In the event that the dice falls off the table, the dice will be inspected first before being placed into the game.

In craps, 20 players can join. Each one of the players will get their turn to roll the dice. If you pass your turn to throw the dice, you can place your bet on the one shooting the dice. The craps table is composed of the players, a stickman, two dealers, and the boxman.

Craps opens with the come out roll which is the first toss of the dice in the betting round. A come out roll happens when the previous shooter fails to pull a Seven Out or a Point. When a player shoots a come out roll the dice is returned to him for another round of craps.

The Bets
The table is divided into three areas: two side areas separated by an area in the middle. The side areas are mirror images of one another where you will find the Pass and Don’t Pass bets, Odds bet, Come and Don’t Come bets, Field bets and Place bets. The area in the middle contains shaded parts from both the side areas and the Proposition bet is found here as well.

When a roll is 7 or an 11 the pass bet wins. A pass bet will lose when a roll happens to be a 2, 3 or 12. The Don’t pass bet will win when the dice rolls a 2 or 3 and loses the round when a 7 or 11 is rolled. The 12 is considered to be a tie for Don’t pass.

These are only some of the betting examples that you need to understand when playing Craps. Learning them by heart will give you a good chance of winning in the table. Don’t forget to enjoy the game as well since it is fun and exciting.
