Playing Keno

If you’re familiar with the numbers game of Lotto, it is safe to say that you will not have a hard time understanding Keno. As a matter of fact, even if you’ve never played lotto before; you can still easily grasp the basics of Keno which will have you playing in no time at all.

Keno is usually played in casinos where they have set-up a special Keno corner for players to easily find the game and start playing. The dedicated Keno area is also designed in a way that will allow players to easily keep track of the numbers drawn.

How to Play Keno

To start playing Keno, you first have to get a Keno ticket from the casino or any place offering Keno games. There are eight numbers on a Keno ticket or card; from one to eighty.

You will select a minimum of four numbers on the card but not exceeding ten. Once you have picked out your numbers – you have to mark the numbers on the ticket – you will then place a bet, starting at five cents in some casinos, and a dollar in others.

You will be given another ticket where the numbers you picked will be printed. When the game starts, twenty numbers will be randomly picked from the Keno balls. If all of your numbers or a couple are those that were drawn, you will win the corresponding prize.

The prize that you will win is based on the bet that you placed for that particular game. You may choose to buy several tickets per game to increase your chances of winning.

In some instances, you may choose to play Keno without actually doing the ticket purchase and betting yourself. There are people placed in casinos who get Keno bets from patrons and they will simply inform you if you have won or not.

Odds Against Winning

Much like playing lotto, Keno is a game of chance. Your chances of winning are not dependent on any skill so you simply have to rely on your lucky stars to make you win. However, since it is a very easy game to play, you can keep enjoying your Keno game without breaking a sweat.

Remember that since this is a game of chance, there is always the risk of losing on some of your games so betting wisely is recommended.

Prior to playing Keno, you might want to find out the house edge so you can at least make a calculated guess about your odds of winning in the game. Typically, casinos offering Keno have a house edge of thirty percent; although sometimes this percentage increases depending on the casino.

You may find out more about playing Keno and your chances of winning through various websites that offer online Keno games to internet players. You may also play simulation games in some of these websites to familiarize yourself with how the game is played to best prepare you once you decide to play for real money.
