Keeping it simple in poker

When starting to play poker, you will most likely play low-limit games. Beating these games does not involve you to develop into a master in poker. It means that you are able to beat poor opponents. It gets rather difficult when playing with good players at high limits. Nevertheless winning at low-limits is pretty easy.

What do I mean? Basically, other opponents will be paying attention to there own cards and not at you. They only care about themselves they don’t care about you or what cards you have. They will play how they have always played, despite whether or not you are in the pot or not. In other words, you are basically like a ghost to them, but with a bit of luck you will be a ghost that’s taking there money away from them. If you want to beat the bad dogs, you basically need to play a straight forward game that will make you a winner in the long run. For example, Play simple; don’t do any over rated bluffs, bet confidently when you think you have the best hand.

When it comes down to deception with these players, slow playing will work. These players are effortlessly leaded on into thinking they have a good hand when they hit a pair on the turn, so giving them a free card when you hold stone nuts can be to your benefit. On the other hand, bluffing is basically like an exercise in usefulness. The only thing these guys want is to see if they have the best hand or not. They will even pay you if you show them your cards. Don’t expect to scare any opponents at lower limits with an additional $5 bet.

Master the art of choosing early hands, using pot odds, and confidently betting your winning hands. On the other hand, psychological strategies are usually useless. Your opponents are not thinking very deeply, and attempting any fancy plays only harm you.
