Multi Tabling Advice
Online poker has created a new thrill, multi tabling your games so that you are active on a number of tables all at the same time.
This means that players are able to hands continuously, keeping their mind frame firmly on the game but with the advantage of being involved in a hand most of the time you lose the chance to be able to analyse other players performance and playing style due to needed into focus your attention to another unrelated table.
If your planning on moving into the multi table aspect of online poker then you need to consider a few points in order to do it effectively otherwise you will get caught out and will see your bankroll take a huge hit, sometimes even run dry.
  1. Don’t play too many tables from the off
Just because multi tabling is available on your chosen online poker room, it does not mean that you have to use the feature. If you feel more comfortable playing just a single table then do so.
If you think that your ready to multi table and its your first time in doing so, you need to be progressive about how many tables you are going to play, so start off with only two tables open and see how you feel at this point.
If you feel that you are firmly in control, then you can look to add another table and then reassess your feeling, remember that you can leave any table at any point, so if you move to add another table and you find yourself feeling rushed, simply leave the last table that you entered and focus on the remaining few that you have open.
  1. Only play the premium poker starter hands
Too many players open up a number of tables and then think that by using a starter hand selection that would be more suited to heads up play, they are going to end the session in profit.
The truth is, if your playing more hands with low power hands then you are going to lose more money, more of the time.
  1. Keep to the same poker variant
Playing multiple tables is not something that a novice would be able to do and mixing your poker variants will only make this a whole lot harder on yourself as you are having to juggle a number of differences between each table.
You need to stick to the same variable in order to keep your approach to the game firmly set to your ‘A Game’, dropping from this will create a huge hole in your bankroll.
  1. Lower your stakes
A great piece of advice that was given to me by a friend was to lower my stakes as I was selecting which tables to multi table, ok your winnings per pot will tend to become lower but I would be playing more hands, meaning that I was either breaking even to have I would have being winning with a lower risk or actually exceeding those figures.
  1. Only multi table when you have the right environment to do so
Its hard enough to multi table when your doing it in a location that offers very little in the way of noise but the moment that the environment becomes noisier, its time to close those tables.
Its proven that noise outside of the online poker room software can hinder your performance within a poker game and if your playing 8 tables at this time, its going to hinder your performance 8 times as much!
All that you have to do is select your tables wisely, keep focused on the game and avoid going on tilt. Go on tilt through any one of the open tables and the whole of your games will suffer, costing you your hard earned cash.
