Learning Texas Hold’em Poker Through Playing
So many new and inexperienced poker players look to learn their trade while playing the game, a decision that could prove costly to them if they make the wrong decisions.
Its been seen that people who feel they would be good at poker online because of the small stake games that they have with their friends, head straight to the likes of Pokerstars and Full Tilt Poker, create an account and then load their account with funds from their income.
The fact of the matter here is that playing with mates and then moving into playing poker online offers a huge step that players must be able to over come because of the differences in how the game runs, the speed at which the game is played as well as the number of different levels of opponents that one would run into while playing online.
The worst habit that seems to plague new players of online poker is that they load their real money funds into their account and then head straight for the tables, no use of the play money tables, simply load and play.
I have seen so many players join a poker site, load funds and then have to reload their funds again within a matter of minutes after heading to a stake that they simply can’t handle or afford.
The human desire to earn money has to be the hardest thing that new players have to overcome, just because your loading $100 into an online poker room does not mean that you can head straight over to the $0.25/$0.50 table and hold your own.
Once you develop your game, you will become more informed of the number of players who do exactly that, they save their disposable income until they have $100 and then the try to launch an assault on the online poker world, failing within hours of placing their funds.
So why are so many people failing to make a profit from their play online even though they are beating their mates on a regular basis at their weekly poker night in?
- Online poker offers a wide range of players
Online poker isn’t designed so that people are able to head onto an online poker site with $100 and walk away with $1000 without having to work for it. When you are making you decision to join the online poker trait, remember that your not alone, there will be a huge percentage of the players on the site already that have been playing the game at a higher standard that you have been.
- Poor game selection
It seems that new online poker players like to experiment with the games that they play, thinking that just because a game or tournament is based on the variant of poker that they know, they can learn to understand the game as it progresses.
Wrong!
In fact, players with this mentality are more likely to lose their complete bankroll faster than a player that is new to game and is playing on a micro stake table.
- Poor stake selection
A common fault of so many new and eager to play online poker players, they load their accounts with funds and head to the highest stake table that they can place their bankroll onto.
This generally means that new players are then faced with opponents who have been playing online poker for a number of years, experiencing some kind of profit over the period of time that they have been playing.
If your determined to join up to an online poker room and stake real money from the off, you need to think wisely about have stakes your going to play.
The general unwritten rule would be that you would enter into stakes that warrant a minimum of 100 big blinds, this gives you enough time to adapt to the game and wait for the premium poker hands rather than having to rush into a pot with the likes of ace – three off suit.
- Overconfidence
Its been seen time and time again where new players are entering the online poker community and they feel that they are the best poker player on the site, something that is sure to see you flat broke within a matter of days.
If you don’t have the bankroll to back up your claim then your not the best poker player on the site and your no where near as good as what you think you are, carrying an overconfident approach into the game will leave you open to a number of the more experienced poker players to be able to take advantage of you.
- Reload! Reload! Reload!
New poker players just don’t seem to be able to take the hint that they are getting beaten at the tables for a reason, if you have loaded your account and lost your money its time to head to the poker strategy area of Google search and read up more about the game and the methodology that you should possess before taking to the tables.
So many players feel that because they were beaten by a player who appeared to be worse than them, they should reload and find that player again in order to take revenge and win back the money that they have just lost.
If you have to reload your account, its your play that needs looking into. Improve that and then you can improve your chances.
Players have to remember that they are staking real money here, just because you can’t feel the chips or see the money being traded for credit on the site, its still the money that you have earned.
Don’t think that because the money is now electronically represented that’s its not real, think with this mind set and your going to experience a lot of financial difficulty while your playing poker online.
