Types Of Texas Holdem Poker Players :

When a poker player plays at a table he will be playing against many opponents with many different game types. Most of these game types can be grouped into certain categories. Once a poker player groups a player in a certain category he can adjust his poker strategy accordingly. A lot of what makes a winning No Limit Texas Holdem player is being able to identify certain player types and then adjust his play to be able to combat it effectively.

Loose Aggressive Texas Holdem Players:

Loose aggressive players are ones that raise a lot of the time and will call down a lot of hands. Though this playing style is usually a bad one at lower limits some high stakes players are very profitable with this type of play. A Texas Holdem poker player can identify a loose aggressive because he will be raising a lot from a lot of positions pre-flop as well as post flop. A loose aggressive player usually has a large hand range and thus can sometimes pop up with an unexpected monster. Though this is the case, the majority of the time a loose aggressive player won’t have a great hand and value can be milked from players who know this.

Loose Passive Texas Holdem Players:

Loose Passive poker players are usually known as calling stations. This is because loose passive Texas Holdem players will rarely raise. Though they will rarely raise they will still come into many pots. Loose passive players will call down players with close to nothing and this means that they should not be bluffed very often. Value is made from loose aggressive players by strongly betting good and medium strength poker hands because they will call down the players with much worse hands. Loose passive poker players are the easiest players to exploit for value in the game of No Limit Texas Holdem poker.

Tight Aggressive Texas Holdem Players:

Commonly found as the biggest winning players at low stakes and medium stakes holdem tight aggressive players are usually quite an adept form of poker player. Tight aggressive players will behave as their name suggests, they will play quite a tight range however when they do play they will be aggressive with their raises. Tight aggressive players also tend to mix their range up depending on their position and will have some sort of hand selection and range.

Tight Passive Texas Holdem Players:

Tight passive poker players are ones that do not play a lot of hands. Also known as nits these players are very tight and rarely raise even when they have a good hand. A tight passive player is best dealt with by stealing their blinds regularly however when they decide to play back simply folding is usually a good option. When a tight passive poker player raises he usually has an extremely good hand and it is usually not worth continuing in the pot unless drawing to a good hand.
