A teaser bet can be a fun bet to make and works similarly to a parlay. Teasers allow you to bet on a combination of games with adjusted lines at lower odds. In a sense they are a parlay on steroids. Not only are you picking two or more teams but you are getting way more points then you normally would. Confused yet? Let’s look at an example of how a teaser works and I think things will come together for you.

 

We will use everyone’s favorite sport, football, as our example. Imagine some Sunday you want to bet on the Indianapolis Colts -11 and the Dallas Cowboys +5. You could simply put these two games into a parlay bet to get maximized return on the bet. But to minimize your risk you decide to put them into a teaser bet. The sportsbook you use offers 7 point, 8 point and 9 point teasers. This is the number of extra points you will receive on both bets. So in our example we will use a 7 point teaser. Now, your teaser bet consists of the Indianapolis Colts -4 and the Dallas Cowboys +12. The downside of this is the “odds” on this bet will be reduced drastically so you will win less money if the teaser wins. But with the extra points, the bet is way more likely to win.

 

This works the same way for totals as well. In the NBA the over / under of the Chicago Bulls vs. Indiana Pacers is 205 and the over / under of the Dallas Mavericks and Miami Heat is 187. You like the over in both games but decide to reduce your risk a little by making these a 9 point teaser bet. Your teaser would include the following:

 

– Bulls / Pacers Over 196

– Mavericks / Heat Over 178

 

Again, you get a smaller payout if this teaser bet wins.

 

Hopefully now teasers are starting to make more sense to you. They are a lot of fun to do and obviously the more teams you add to the teaser, the higher the payout will be. When forming a teaser bet you should start by looking at each individual game. Put these games into a parlay. If you aren’t necessarily comfortable with a few of the games and would like to get a few more points in your favor, change the bet from a parlay bet into a teaser bet. On the contrary, if you absolutely love the games on your card it probably isn’t a wise move to do a teaser. Stick with the parlay and enjoy the higher payout when your games all win. Teasers are offered at almost any online sportsbook today. They aren’t however, offered for every sport. Baseball Moneyline is one area you will never find teasers. For the most part, basketball and football are the two sports people tend to bet on teasers. So what are you waiting for, head out there and start forming your first teaser bet now! Good luck and happy betting.
