Art of Buying Picks

Some sports bettors don’t have the time, skills, or desire to make their own picks when sports betting. These bettors would benefit greatly from buying picks. Handicappers, tout services and large websites all over sell their picks for anything and everything. You can buy picks for tonight’s basketball games, for this months football games, for the entire year of baseball games. All this means is you are paying someone money for their expert advice on who to bet on.

Benefits to buying picks
There are a few huge benefits to buying picks. First, you don’t have to do any research. Time is money for most people and researching good sports picks takes a lot of time. If you don’t know where to look or have the necessary time then buying sports picks could be a good idea. Secondly, some might not have the knowledge in a particular sport to make good picks themselves. For example, hockey or the WNBA can be a profitable sport to bet on. But just because it’s profitable doesn’t mean you know which side to bet on. Take advantage of the true experts in those sports and buy their winning picks in these individual areas. They have put in the time and have the background information to give you the edge. A third benefit to buying picks is it keeps out your internal biases. It’s a known fact that people like to bet on their favorite team. Many wear fuzzy glasses when betting on sports and will bet on teams just because they like them. When buying picks, you bet on whom they tell you to bet on. This can take some of the pressure off of you and make sports betting a little more fun and relaxed in general.

Downfalls of buying picks
Buying sports picks might sound like a great idea at first, but there are definitely some downfalls as well. First and foremost, it costs money. Buying picks from handicappers or trusted sources is not cheap. Some feel that this money is better used towards making extra bets instead of spending it on buying picks. A second downfall to buying picks is you might not agree with the picks. Sometimes it’s very hard to bet on something you don’t agree with. Lastly, just because you buy a sports pick doesn’t mean it’s guaranteed to win. Most of these handicappers put in the research and have solid plays for sale, but this does not mean they will all win. You could very likely spend money buying picks and still lose money betting as well. It’s like a double whammy at this point.

Guaranteed Picks
One of the latest trends in sports picks services is the concept of “guaranteed picks”. This means that you will get your money back if the pick you bought does not win. For example, assume you spend $50 on tonight’s MNF winner from Handicapper ABC. This is a guaranteed play. If the team they give you wins, they keep your $50 but you won your bet. If the team they give you loses, they refund your money. But you have lost your bet in this instance as well.

Research where to Buy Picks
Paid picks are available all over the place. The most important thing to remember when buying picks is to find someone or a group you trust. There is no reason to buy sports picks from someone who wants to give you losers. Find a reputable company that puts time and effort into their research. Make sure the cost is reasonable and inquire about guaranteed picks. Buying picks may not be for you and it’s not something everyone believes in. But if you find the right service, buying picks can make a lot of sense for certain individuals.
