Improving Your Game with Effective Blackjack Rules

The rules of blackjack are your ultimate guidelines to success. If you’re a dedicated blackjack expert or you’re a thriving blackjack professional, then it would definitely be a good idea to understand and master the rules of blackjack by heart.

Increasing your chances of winning against the dealer will certainly be possible if you take ample time in reading the rules of the game and putting it to practice. No matter how good you are, you need to spare some of your time in practicing. Practicing will definitely enhance your blackjack skills, thus, you can effectively gain control of the game and have a greater edge than the dealer. In this article, we will provide you with a detailed explanation on how to efficiently utilize the rules and gaining more wins than losses.

Basic Rules of Blackjack
If you’re going to play blackjack, you only need to know one thing. The main objective of the game is to have a hand which is higher than the dealer’s. Despite the fact that you’re playing with other players, the only person you need to focus on is the dealer. Remember that in playing blackjack, it is relatively important to weigh your options before making any decision. Blackjack is all about counting cards because you need to make sure that your hand does not go over 21 or else you will get busted. In short, you will lose your chances of winning the pot.

How do we play blackjack? Playing blackjack is quite simple. A card will be dealt for each player. The players’ cards are usually faced up. Then, the dealer will also deal his card; however, the dealer’s card is faced down. The dealer’s card is called the “hole” card. The second card is dealt to each player again. Likewise, the card is faced up. At this point, each player must decide if they want to ask for more cards to complete their hand or if you think that you have a high probability of winning against the dealer, you can hold on to your cards. When all the players’ hands have been completed, the dealer will make the last draw to complete his hand.

Who is declared the “winner”? If your hand is greater than that of the dealer’s hand but not exceeding 21, then you win the game. However, if you exceed 21, then you automatically lose the game. If your hand and dealer’s hand are equal, then the game is a “stand-off”.

Rules of Blackjack – Betting Moves
1.     Splitting pairs. A player can receive two cards with an equal value. If this happens, the player can split the two cards and form two separate hands. However, you need to place a bet that is equivalent to your original bet.
2.     Doubling Down. A player is allowed to place another bet, however, not exceeding the original bet if his hand is equivalent to 9, 10, and 11 (without aces). Good thing about doubling down is you can be dealt with additional cards to complete your hand.
3.     Insurance. If the first card dealt by the dealer to the player is an “ace”, the player is allowed to insure his hand. However, you can only insure your hand if the dealer had a blackjack. If the dealer doesn’t make a blackjack, your insured hand will be forfeited.
