UKIPT Galway Winner First Ever To Win Two Tour Titles
The winner of the PokerStars UK & Ireland Poker Tour’s first stop of Season II, in Galway, is no stranger to UKIPT titles. In this, the second year of the UKIPT, Nick Abou Risk wins his second tour title in as many years. In season I of the PokerStars UK & Ireland Poker Tour, Nick Abou Risk won the UKIPT Edinburgh stop. This time, Abou Risk took down the UKIPT Galway.
Outlasting 265 opponents in the No Limit Hold’em main event, 25-year-old Canadian Abou Risk took home the first place prize of €67,100 from a total €250,000 guaranteed prize pool for the event.
This accomplishment also secures Abou Risk’s place in the poker history books as the first player to win two PokerStars UK & Ireland Poker Tour main events. Second place, and its €41,300 prize, went to Trish Mallin of Ireland. Third place went to another Irish player, Maurice Silke, who claimed €25,250 for his efforts.
The fourth place finisher (Vytenis Navickas of Lithuania) was a PokerStars online qualifier, as were the sixth and seventh place finishers ((Dan Rankin of Ireland and Roar Aspaas of Norway, respectively). Between the three of them, they split over €40,000, without paying anything close to the €1,000 buy-in into the event between them.
The second stop of the UKIPT Season II is in Nottingham, England, February 11-14, 2011.
PokerStars.com is running UKIPT Nottingham satellites now, awarding as their top prize, free seats into the main event as well as accommodations and a travel stipend.
